I hope you all had a great Christmas and a happy New Year.
We spent Christmas with our daughter and her family (especially newly-minted Matilda, all of five months old) and her husband’s family. It was a wonderful day of eating, talking, sleeping and waiting our turn to nurse the baby.
My BigD unit was closed, so I had the day off. I normally dialyse 5 days a week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu and Sat) and since Christmas was Wednesday and in the middle of my consecutive days, I figured all would be well if, as a Christmas present to myself, I decided to not make up the lost day. And though I did notice the difference, I felt fine.
For the first time in ages, we saw in the New Year. We had a wild night with a small selection of sisters (one of mine, one of Julie’s). We had dinner, played some board games and at midnight, watched the fireworks on TV and danced in a circle in the lounge room singing Auld Lang Syne. It doesn’t get any wilder than that.
I wish everyone good health and happiness on and off the BigD throughout 2014.
